Memorial Songs

A lasting tribute for a life well lived

Every person who leaves us carries a story worth telling. A memorial song turns that story into something the family keeps forever — something played at the service, shared with relatives across the country, and returned to for years to come.

Working from an obituary or a brief conversation with the family, I write and produce a fully original song in 24–48 hours — complete with custom cover art featuring their photo and a piece of your community.

That'll Hurt for Awhile
That'll Hurt for Awhile
Humorous · Country
Verse 1 Why the hell do I hurt so bad I wasn't doing a crazy stunt Didn't run… didn't fall… didn't crash Now I can't move without a grunt Sleeping… sitting… even walking Nothing reckless… nothing wild Just trying to live a normal day That'll hurt for a while
Pre-Chorus Gotta stretch before happy hour Think things through before I try One wrong move or sudden motion That'll hurt for a while
Chorus Bang your toe… tweak your back… pull a muscle when you smile Ice it down… walk it off… that'll hurt for a while Cut your hand… strain your neck… tripping on the tile Something new every day That'll hurt for a while
Verse 2 Joined a gym to get ahead of aging Thought I'd whip myself in shape Five minutes in I felt something tear Now I pay for that mistake Can't sit down… can't stand up straight They tell me I should work my core Tried to fix what time was breaking Now I'm worse off than before
Verse 3 Found some slip-in Skechers Browsing down the Velcro aisle If I had to tie my shoes again That'd hurt for a while
Pre-Chorus Gotta stretch before happy hour Think things through before I try One wrong move or sudden motion That'll hurt for a while
Chorus Bang your toe… tweak your back… pull a muscle when you smile Ice it down… walk it off… that'll hurt for a while Cut your hand… strain your neck… tripping on the tile Something new every day That'll hurt for a while
Verse 4 New pain cream… miracle stuff Worked so good it made us smile Lost it drunk on St. Patrick's night That'll hurt for a while Tore the house up like detectives Searching every room and pile Two grown adults in full-blown panic That'll hurt for a while
Verse 5 Throbbing pain won't let me sleep Staring holes into the dark Every time I start to drift Something fires up and sparks Got a drawer of leftover pills Like a doomsday stash on file No sane man throws that stuff away That'll hurt for a while
Bridge Got a guy who cracks my back Got a girl who digs my knots Got a pharmacist on speed dial And a bartender pouring shots Whole damn town's in pain management Keeping me upright in style Modern life takes a damn village That'll hurt for a while
Breakdown (Spoken) "Stretch first." "Don't twist." "Lift with your legs." "Hydrate." Man… I just stood up.
Final Chorus Bang your shin… strain your hip… throw your back just turning Ice packs… heating pads… something always burning Still laughing… still living… still walking every mile Getting older comes with one rule… That'll hurt for a while
She's Grandma to Me
She's Grandma to Me
Heartfelt · Storytelling
Verse 1 Hawkins, Embrey, Dent, then Sloan Norma had many lives she called her own All those names and history But she was always Grandma to me Bay City born in the decade that roared Had Ron out in Nebraska during the war Didn't stay long, came back from out West Then Jan came along, she was next
Verse 2 When the kids were teens, their dad would scream and shout She'd had enough… he agreed to move out Business school taught her the trade Worked at the bank… and that's where she stayed
Chorus She moved on and made it when nobody did Built a full life for her and her kids Worked those long days but still made it fun Let me hear her laugh again… just once
Verse 3 Got her kids through school whatever it took She showed them the value in cracking a book When her grandkids became part of her life She lit up… you could see it in her eyes She loved being grandma to one, two, and three But she wasn't the kind to just let life be George Dent showed her the fun parts of town They lived and loved… til his body broke down
Chorus She moved on and made it when nobody did Built a full life for her and her kids Worked those long days but still made it fun Let me hear her laugh again… just once
Verse 4 Her soprano voice would fill the room Church choir was opera on Sunday afternoon At the Village Inn out with her family She grabbed the mic… sang like she was meant to be Bridge Club at night and scotch poured strong Jeopardy on, she's playing along Sunday crossword, pen not lead She figured it out before it was said She'd jump on a plane to Florida each year Never one to sit still… that much was clear Matt saw her at church… he couldn't live without her They got married… weren't getting any younger
Verse 5 I'd walk in the bank with a birthday check No account or ID… just Grandma, what the heck They'd call her up, she'd give me the clear Walked out with cash just like last year I wanted a job at her best friend's store She told me, "I got you an interview… nothing more" Forty years later, I still hear that call She opened the door… but made me stand tall
Final Chorus She moved on and made it when nobody did Built a full life for her and her kids Worked those long days but still made it fun Let me hear her laugh again… just once
That's All I Want
That's All I Want
Reflective · Americana
Verse 1 I don't need fame and fortune But I have enough to get by Don't need to be a big shot Before it's time for me to fly I want to roll over and feel her there Hair messed up like she don't care Front yard flowers starting to bloom Ain't no reason to get up soon
Chorus Give me a deep belly laugh How bout some pretty good news Small victories like that You never want to lose That's All I want and it ain't much That's All I want and it's enough
Verse 2 Brand-new shoes that fit on first try My tape measure's there when I need it close by A project that actually goes as planned My contractor showing up just like he said Pole position spot at my regular bar My favorite bottle full up on the wall Without asking the bartender pours my drink That's how a good night starts I think
Chorus Give me a deep belly laugh How bout some pretty good news Small victories like that You never want to lose That's All I want and it ain't much That's All I want and it's enough
Verse 3 I want my friends to laugh at my jokes Or to shit on me loudly the times that I choke Laughing with some strangers I won't see again Are nights you look back and say remember when I want my phone to ring on a quiet day One of my kids just calling to say hey Hear a brand-new song that stops me in my tracks Or an old one I forgot that somehow brings me back Someone remembering me I never thought would care Just simple proof I mattered somewhere
Bridge I used to think I'd know the moment When I'd finally arrived Turns out it's the little victories That make you glad to be alive
Final Chorus (Lift) Give me sunsets in the evening Days that don't rush by Play a new song on my black guitar That finally sounds alright That's All I want and it ain't much That's All I want and it's enough
Bay Valley Hoverboard Crash
Bay Valley Hoverboard Crash
Humorous · Storytelling
Verse 1 It's Christmas at Mom's in twenty-fifteen First one without Dad on the scene Bay Valley condo, tree lights bright Whole damn family there that night Brady got a hoverboard that year Black and chrome with flashing gear Rolling circles all around Like some damn circus clown
Verse 2 I'm on the couch with Aunt Jan Talking about nothing much, man Socks on my feet — that never occurs I'm usually the guy with shoes indoors Christmas beer had done its job Weef was acting like a knob He grabs that board with a crooked grin Says "Hell… I'll give this thing a spin"
Verse 3 Next thing I know he's rolling by Drunk as hell and riding high Then he rolls way too close And damn near amputates my toes Goddamn Weef!
Verse 4 Pain shot up like lightning strikes Thought every toe was broken twice Weef goes down with one big boom Hoverboard flies across the room
Chorus That's the Bay Valley Hoverboard Crash
Verse 5 I jumped on him mad as hell Dropping words I shouldn't spell Whole room froze mid-air Nobody sure what happened there Pain faded fast, anger too We laughed it off like brothers do But I told him right there and then Don't ever pull that shit again
Verse 6 Two grown men on the Christmas floor Fighting over a hoverboard Scrub's kid Josh is right up front Dying laughing at this stupid stunt
Outro Yeah… that's the Bay Valley Hoverboard Crash

Please read before placing your order

1. AI-Assisted Production Disclosure

All songs are written by Scott Embrey and produced using Suno AI. Scott Embrey maintains an active paid Suno subscription for all client work. Commercial use rights are included with every delivered song, meaning you may distribute, share, gift, or monetize your song freely. While Suno retains certain rights to AI-generated output as described in their Terms of Service, your commercial use license allows full monetization without any claim on your earnings by Suno or Kawkawlin River Jukebox.

2. Payment Terms

All projects require a 25% non-refundable deposit before work begins. A second payment of 50% is due upon your approval of the lyrics. The remaining 25% balance is due upon delivery of the final song. Work will not begin until the deposit is received. The final song file will not be delivered until the balance is paid in full. All payments are processed securely through PayPal.

3. Revisions

The Standard package includes up to 2 rounds of lyric revisions. The Premium package includes up to 3 rounds of lyric revisions. A revision round is defined as a single set of consolidated feedback submitted at one time. Requests that substantially change the original song concept, subject, or style may be treated as a new project at the discretion of Scott Embrey. Revision terms for Artist Collaborations will be agreed upon at the start of the project. Additional revision rounds beyond those included in your package are available at $25 per round.

4. Refund Policy

The 25% deposit is non-refundable once writing has begun, as it compensates for creative work already performed. The 50% lyric approval payment is non-refundable once lyrics have been approved in writing, as production begins immediately upon approval. No refunds will be issued after the final song has been delivered. If you are unsatisfied with the lyrics prior to approval, revision rounds are available as described above.

5. Ownership & Copyright

Upon receipt of final payment, you are granted full commercial use rights to your delivered song. You may distribute, sell, stream, gift, or otherwise use the song as you wish. Songs are produced using Suno AI under an active paid subscription, and commercial use rights are included with delivery per Suno's Terms of Service.

6. Optional Distribution & Website Feature Consent

Your song is private by default and will never be shared, featured, or distributed without your explicit consent. During the order process you may optionally grant one or both of the following permissions:

Website Feature: You grant Kawkawlin River Jukebox the right to feature your song on their website as an example of their songwriting work.

Full Distribution: You grant Kawkawlin River Jukebox a non-exclusive license to distribute your song commercially on streaming platforms including Spotify and Apple Music under the Scott Embrey / Kawkawlin River Jukebox artist name. Songs distributed to streaming platforms are publicly searchable worldwide. This permission may be withdrawn with 30 days written notice, after which the song will be removed from distribution at the next available opportunity.

Songs for which neither permission is granted will be delivered privately and will never be used in any form by Kawkawlin River Jukebox beyond the original delivery. No partial or modified versions will be created — it is all or nothing per your consent.

7. Communication & Correspondence

All project correspondence — including order details, lyric approvals, revisions, and delivery — is conducted exclusively via email, text message, or through the website contact form. This ensures a clear written record of all approvals and instructions, protects both parties, and allows for efficient turnaround times.

In-person meetings are not included in any package price or timeline. If an in-person consultation is requested and agreed upon, it will be quoted and scheduled separately from the songwriting project itself. Requests for phone or video calls will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of Scott Embrey.

By placing an order, you agree to conduct all project communication through the channels listed above. This policy exists to ensure clear documentation, protect against miscommunication, and maintain the efficient turnaround times that make this service possible.

Completed songs are delivered digitally via email as an MP3 file. Premium package clients also receive a formatted lyrics sheet. Typical turnaround is 7–14 business days from deposit receipt, depending on project complexity and current workload. Rush delivery may be available — please indicate any deadlines in your order form and we will do our best to accommodate.

9. Client Responsibilities

You are responsible for providing accurate and complete information in your order form. Kawkawlin River Jukebox is not responsible for errors or omissions resulting from incomplete or inaccurate information provided by the client. Lyric approval must be provided in writing via email reply. Verbal approvals will not be accepted as authorization to proceed to production.
